November 1st is celebrated as Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava because Chhattisgarh was officially declared as an independent state on November 1, 2000, by the Government of India. Actually, November 1 is the foundation day of 6 states of India namely Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, and Haryana.

1 नवंबर ला छत्तीसगढ़ राज्योत्सव या छत्तीसगढ़ स्थापना दिवस क रूप मा मनाये जाथे। साल 2000 मा इहि दिन भारत सरकार ह छत्तीसगढ़ ला एक सवतंत्र राज घोषित करे रिहिस। 1 नवंबर के दिन अपन जनमदिन मनाये वाला छत्तीसगढ़ राज अकेला नो हे, मध्य परदेश, करनाटक, केरल, पंजाब अउ हरिआना घलो अपन जनमदिन एहि दिन मनाये बर जाने जाथें।

In ancient times, people used to call it Dakshina Kosala. According to Ramayana, it is the birthplace of Maata Kaushilya. So basically it is the maternal home of Shree Rama. This is the reason why maternal uncles used to touch the feet of their nieces and nephews in our culture. The name Chhattisgarh is not that ancient. It became popular during the time of the Maratha Empire. The name Chhattisgarh means 36 fortes and it is believed that at some time there were 36 fortes on this land. Evidence of many of those fortes is still available. They have become a tourist spot now. There are different opinions among historians about how the name Chhattisgarh came into existence. It has a very interesting history that one should definitely want to explore. But I am not gonna talk about history. I will talk more about some of the beautiful things related to this beautiful state you should definitely know and here are they:

जानथस संगी, एक जमाना मा छत्तीसगढ़ ला सब्बो झन दक्षिण कोसल कहके बुलावत रिहिन। अउ रामायण मा घलो लिखे हे कि कौशिल्या माता दक्षिण कोसल मा जनमे रिहिस। मतलब ये भगवान राम के मामा गांव अए। अउ तेकरे सेती इहाँ मामा अपन भाचा अउ भाची के पांव घलो परथे। ये तो मराठा मन क आये क बाद छत्तीसगढ़ नाम सामने आइस। बहुत झे के मानना हे कि एक जमाना में इहाँ 36 ठने गढ़ घलो रिहिस। बहुत सारा गढ़ तो आज भी है अउ मनखे मन उहाँ घूमे ला घलो जाथें। वइसे तो इतिहासकार मन क अलग - अलग राय हे कि छत्तीसगढ़ क नाम छत्तीसगढ़ कइसे पड़िस। लेकिन, ओखर बारे में आज बात नइ करना हे। अब तैं तो जानथस जेतना मुँह ओतना गोठ। आज हमन छत्तीसगढ़ क कुछ खूबसूरत पक्ष ला देखबो। त चल देखे ब फिर:

Jai Johar

Jai Johar is a similar phrase as Namastey or Hello which is used to greet someone. This is one of the Chhattisgarhi ways to greet someone. The Johar word has come from the ancient culture of Chhattisgarh where people used to thank Mother Nature by saying Johar for everything.

जब कोई के नमस्ते या हेलो कहना होते तो हमन जय जोहार कहना पसंद करथन। हमन ला अपन माटी से जुड़े रहना बहुतेच पसंद हे अउ जोहार शब्द ला तो बहुत पुराना समय से हमन अपन माटी, अपन छत्तीसगढ़ महतारी के धन्यबाद देहे बर इस्तेमाल करत आथन। त भाई तहूँ ला जय जोहार।

Dadariya

Dadariya is a folk singing style of Chhattishgarh. Singers sing it in pairs of lines. The first line of the pair is always arbitrary and the second line is used to say what one wants to say. Enjoy this Dadariya video with Chhattisgarhi Super Star Anuj Sharma:

ददरिया हमन के लोकगीत हे। दू - दू लाइन क जोड़ी म एला गाए जाथे। पहिला लाइन मा गवइया कुछो गा सकथे। असल बात, जउन कहना रहिथे ओ दूसरा लाइन मा गाये जाथे। त संगी ये ददरिया गाना ला सुन अउ अगर तैं गाना खतम होत ले खुद गाना शुरू नहीं कर देहे त का आदमी हस यार तैं। हेहे, मजाक करत रहेन बड़े। देख ले अराम से अनुज शर्मा के वीडियो हे:

Toora Bhoko Lolo

If you are a big fan of rap songs then you must check the song "Bhoko Lolo" by Toora Bhoko Lolo aka Appy Raja.

अउ ये दे आ गइस हमर छत्तीसगढ़िया हनी सिंह, टूरा भोको लोलो।

Sun Sun Mor Maya Peera Ke

This song will make you a fan of the Chhattisgarhi language. It is composed by Hari Thakur & sung by Md Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur in the movie Ghar-Dwar in 1971.

ये गाना तो अगर तैं एक बार सुन लेहे त बार - बार सुनबे। लिख के घलो ले ले। गाना ला हरि ठाकुर लिखे हे अउ मोह्हमद रफी अउ सुमन कल्यानपुर गाये हे। 

Pandavani

Pandavani is another folk singing style of Chhattisgarh. It involves the narration of tales from the ancient Indian Epic Mahabharata. Teejan Bai is a synonym for Pandavani. She has been awarded the Padma Shri in 1987, Padma Bhushan in 2003, and Padma Vibhushan in 2019 by the Government of India. Also, she has been awarded Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1995 by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama.

पंडवानी घलो हमर लोकगीत हे। ये अपन तरह के इकलौता महाभारत सुनाय के तरीका हे। तीजन बाई के नांव आज पंडवानी के दूसर नांव बन गे हे। पद्मश्री, पद्मभूषण, पद्मविभूषण अउ न जाने केतनो अवार्ड तीजन बाई ला मिल चुके हे। 

Chhunur - Chhunur Pairi Baaje

This song has been sung by non-other than, everyone's favorite Sonu Nigam himself. The beautiful lyrics and the melodious voice of Sonu Nigam have made it a must-listen song.

ये सुन्दर गाना ला खुद सोनू निगम ह अपन आवाज देहे हे। 

Sonu Nigam has sung a number of songs in Chhattisgarhi and they are all worth listening to.

एखर अलावा भी बहुत सुन्दर - सुन्दर गाना हे जेऊन ला सोनू निगम ह अपन आवाज देहे हे।  

Kaun Disha Mein

The famous song is from the 1982 movie Nadiya Ke Paar. The movie is based on Chhattisgarh and one can easily see a glimpse of Chhattisgarh in it. 

ये गाना 1982 के फिलिम नदिया के पार में से हे। फिलिम छत्तीसगढ़ क ऊपर ही आधारित हे। छत्तीसगढ़ क एक सुन्दर झलक ये फिलिम मा घलो देखे बर मिलथे।

Gadi Wala Aaya Ghar Se Kachra Nikaal

Song "Gadi Wala Aaya Ghar Se Kachra Nikaal" (which means vehicle man has arrived, bring the waste) will wake you up in the morning, if you are not an early bird & living in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.

अगर तैं रायपुर के रहइया अस अउ अगर तोर बड़े बिहनिया उठे के आदत नो हे त ये गाना तोर नींद जरूर तोड़ दिहि। 

This song has been composed and sung by Shyam Bairagi. It is said that this song was behind the award of Cleanest City in India for Indore in 2018 given by Swachh Survekshan 2018. In 2019 A video on this song has also been filmed by Chhattisgarhi Film Producer Manoj Deep & In 2019 Shyam Bairagi has been awarded Chhollywood Stardom Award by Chhattisgarh Film Industry Association. 

गाना के श्याम बैरागी लिखे हे। अउ कहवइया कहथें कि इहि गाना ह 2018 मा इंदौर के सबसे साफ - सुथरा शहर बनाये हे। बाद में छत्तीसगढ़ी फिलिम निरदेशक मनोज दीप घलो एखर ऊपर वीडियो बनाये हे। श्याम बैरागी ला 2019 मा छत्तीसगढ़ फिलिम इंडस्ट्री असोसिएशन ह ओखर योगदान खातिर छत्तीसगढ़ स्टारडम अवार्ड से सम्मानित करे हे।
